Maine Fibershed Festival

  • Southport General Store 443 Hendricks Hill Road Southport, ME, 04576 United States (map)

Join us on Saturday, June 28th from 1-4pm at The Barn at the Southport General Store for a special afternoon to celebrate Maine’s vibrant fiber community. We’re welcoming Maine Fibershed, Buckwheat Blossom Farm, and Cape Newagen Farm for an in-depth conversation about the life-cycle of natural fiber—from soil-to-soil.

Come learn about:
How supporting local fiber farmers strengthens our community & economy
The health & environmental benefits of choosing natural fibers
Raising fiber animals with care
Spinning, dyeing & selling locally-made goods
Shearing & processing fiber

LIVE Sheep Shearing Demo: Don’t miss Jeff from Buckwheat Blossom Farm—one of Maine’s most skilled and trusted sheep shearers—as he demonstrates the shearing process live, with care and precision.

Shop Local with Stacy’s Spinning Haven: Browse and buy beautiful, locally raised and spun fiber products from this woman-owned small business.

After the Talk: Visit Cape Newagen Farm! Take a short drive to meet the alpacas and catch a live spinning demo surrounded by the animals that help make it all possible. Check out Maine grown yarn and locally made gifts in their shop!

This event is a celebration of natural fiber, sustainable living, and the hardworking people behind Maine’s growing fiber movement. Whether you’re a knitter, spinner, home gardener or simply curious, this is a gathering that celebrates our community! This event is free and open to ALL!
